The deeper songs with all that empathic goo I usually listen to alone, but the other half is exactly as you put it- doesn't require much. Zeppelin's Immigrant Song is a good example of something that you don't have to pick apart to enjoy for what it is.

I know two LB fans. sadly, one is my boyfriend. He's not really a rabid fan though..he just likes some of their songs (I swear one day I *will* beat that out of him). the other is a good friend of mine. and she is a rabid LB fan. right down to wanting to jump fred durst's bones. blech.
Does he just prefer their old stuff? That's what most people claim is the best LB material (but well, I don't see LB and the term "best material" going together too well there). At least you guys aren't so stern about music interests that it causes problems. One friend of mine had an old boyfriend that dumped her because she liked Bush. Sheesh- I mean I can't stand that band either but how superficial is that. And this was in college, not even High school.

yeah..he likes their older stuff. he barely listens to them anymore though..I didn't even know he liked them till one of their songs came on a mix CD he'd made.

and dumping someone for liking a certain band is one of the stupidest things I've heard in a long time. I don't mind that adam likes LB, and I'd certainly never dump him for it. although I might pretend to be withering away when they come on the radio.

hahah... though sometimes with LB playing there's not much pretending needed.

actually, rock is alive and well, just not being signed to major labels or being played on the radio... unless it's a college station...

...I would dump a chick for liking bush. Why the fuck would I date a lesbian? Unless I got to watch...

...oh, you mean that other Bush! Well, I would still dump her. I couldn't sleep with a woman who supports W.

...what? A band? Never heard of 'em...

Virtch: I am not saying there is anything wrong with Nirvana, I don't have a problem with 'em...they just never really grabbed me.

I'm with DA on Nirvana. I don't see the mass appeal, but they don't altogether suck.

What the world needs now is MC Hammer.

Shit there's some great new bands... How about Los Lonely Boys which is a cross between SRV and Ritchie Valens.

How about PROBOT, hell I even like POD a lot now...

The only thing that drives me insane is when I hear Chad Kroeger's voice come oveer the radio for the 20th time that day...."Just like...a paperback novel..." AAARRGGHHH
